How did you get started in this field?

I worked in a PR firm, did very well.
Moved ahead.

What are your specific responsibilities?

I am responsible for launching a new IT company, therefore:
All copy(written documents) sales, branding, presentation,
etc...basicly the weight of the world...but I like it.

Describe a typical workday and workweek. What do you do during a typical day?

I work with our graphic designers on current project, meet w/clients to discuss their needs and projects, write and approve all material leaving our office, conference with my bosses, etc. 9:30-when I'm done.

Patience, creativity, computer skills, computer design skills (adobe, Illustrator etc...) creative writing, research (that does not take all day)

Yes, very.

yes, flextime, vacation time.

55-60...with lots of perks!

No, not many...but sometimes it's necessary to work very late.

How much travel is involved with a job in your field?

I never used to travel, but now it comes up more and more.

Could you give me examples of projects that you are working on?

I am launching new hardware/software for one of our Japanese clients.

Could you describe your work settings? Offices, machinery, resources etc.

a very large L shaped desk, 2 computers 1 MAC and one PC.
Nice shelves, lots of work related stuff, reference books,
art books, yes, I still look @ books.

What personal qualities do you think are necessary for someone to be successful in this occupation?

You need to be respectful of others visions and talents, never tell someone just strait out YOUR WRONG.
Learn to be confident and believe in your visions but be open to others ideas and opinions.

What is the major challenge you face at work?

Sometimes I am asked to handle something I know nothing about, I am constantly learning. Always triple checking.
Errors can be avoided by doing thourough work.
I work w/ a catty recept. BIG deal right?

What aspects of your job do you find most rewarding? (Pros) Least rewarding? (Cons)

Most Rewarding: Free-Creative run, consulting on projects, pitching new clients, money
Least Rewarding: Late hours, waking up early.

Yes, sometimes

Do you have a lot of interaction with a certain occupation? I.E. media, engineers, etc.

yes, with designers and clients-I'm the one in the middle getting the visions to match.

What is the Female to Male Ratio in your position/field?

Almost all male. I'm frequently the only woman in the room who is not some mans assistant. It requires me to be very professional and always well presented.

More women and people of color

sometimes, don't be intimidated-they are only men!
follow your heart-believe in yourself-let nothing and no one stand in your way!

Do your homework, a lot is required of you. It may not seem it but you have the advantage.
